Mediation
“Parents know
their children better than anyone else. It only makes sense that
divorcing parents try to work together to develop their own parenting
plan.” Dr. John E. Northman
Mediation is an alternative
dispute resolution process in which divorcing parents work out their own
agreement with the assistance of a trained mediator.
Such parents typically have
a cordial relationship which may even be quite amicable. They may be in
an excellent position to engage in productive discussions aimed at
resolving issues in their divorce.
Parents know their children
better than anyone else. As a trained mediator, Dr. Northman
facilitates the discussions that can help divorcing parents resolve
issues and work toward a parenting plan agreement appropriate for their
individual children. By taking responsibility for shaping and creating
their own parenting plan, parents feel the satisfaction of continued
active involvement and decision-making in their children’s lives.
