Psychological Services to Assist with
Divorce
Custody Evaluation: An
evaluation process whereby the psychologist can provide the court with
information and perspective concerning the best psychological interests
of the children.
Mediation: An alternative
dispute resolution process in which divorcing parents work out their own
agreement with the assistance of a trained mediator (often a
psychologist who is attuned to family dynamics).
Co-Parent Counseling:
Sessions guided by the psychologist to facilitate effective
communication between separated or divorced parents who wish to
cooperate in raising their children.
Parent Coordination:
A child-focused dispute resolution process in which the psychologist
assists parents who continue to have serious conflicts following the
divorce in implementing workable and effective parenting plans.
Collaborative
Divorce: A mutually respectful process by which clients and their
respective attorneys develop a divorce agreement with the assistance of
other professionals as needed (most commonly a psychologist and/or an
accountant).
